Our Mission and Vision

The Institute of Endemic Diseases endeavors to be one of the leading research and training institutes on endemic diseases worldwide. The Institute of Endemic Diseases was established in 1993 as a research and training center for endemic diseases. It acts as a platform for biomedical and clinical research in the University of Khartoum. Community service is an ever growing objective, especially for impoverished and remote communities.

Graduates, Associates and friends of IEND The past few decades have been good times to meet, see and interact. But, as usual all good things come to an end. Prof. Ahmed Mohamed EL Hassan

Prof. Ahmed M El Hassan is an Emeritus Professor of Pathology at the Institute of Endemic Diseases, University of Khartoum. He was the Minster of Higher Education in Sudan. El hassan was interested in Psychology at a young age. After acquiring the Diploma in Medicine with distinction from the Kitchener School of Medicine in 1955, and winning the Kitchener Memorial Prize, he joined the Ministry of Health as House Officer and then as Medical Officer from 1955 to 1958.
